On Tuesday, June 24, 2008, the Big Apple Circus will present a benefit performance for Rockland 21st Century Collaborative for Children and Youth. Rockland 21C is the non-profit organization that supports schools and their Family Resource Centers. Last years performance for 21C was a complete sellout.

The Nanuet Family Resource Center

The Nanuet Public Schools Family Resource Centers are a school-based school linked support initiative. The Family Resource Center evolved from the Schools of the 21st Century concept developed at Yale University, which is our collaborative partner. Our goal is to support all Nanuet district families and their children to best develop and achieve both academically and personally. We share information about programs and services available throughout Rockland County as well as a variety of programs run by us in our own Nanuet schools. Services and programs include, but are certainly not limited to:

Family Resource Centers located in G.W. Miller Elementary school.

Free lending library for parents, children and district staff.

Information and referral services.

Free parent – teacher workshops.

“NETWORK” – a free strength based child assessment program.

“Parent-Child-Home” literacy based in-home visiting program.

Nanuet Student mentoring programs.

Kindergarten transitional programs and support.

“SAFEHOMES”

Before and after-school programs.
